Is my payment secure?

How unofax protects your money and your card details.

Why we chose Square

When we built unofax, one of the first decisions we made was to never handle card details ourselves. Storing payment credentials means taking on enormous security responsibility. Encryption at rest, key rotation, breach monitoring, PCI audits, and getting any of it wrong puts our users at risk.

Instead, we chose Square. Square is a publicly traded financial services company (NYSE: XYZ) that processes billions of dollars in payments every year for millions of businesses worldwide. They handle all of the security so we can focus on delivering your fax.

When you pay on unofax, your card number, expiry date, and CVV go directly to Square's servers through their secure payment form. Our servers never see them, never store them, and never have access to them. The only thing we receive is a confirmation that the payment succeeded.

What this means for you

Using Square as our payment processor gives you several concrete protections:

  • Your card details never touch our servers: the payment form is hosted by Square. Your sensitive data is encrypted and transmitted directly to Square, bypassing our infrastructure entirely.
  • PCI DSS compliance: Square is a Level 1 PCI DSS service provider, the highest level of payment security certification. This means their systems are independently audited every year to meet the strictest standards for handling card data.
  • Fraud detection built in: Square's risk engine monitors transactions in real time for suspicious activity, helping protect both you and us from fraudulent charges.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay: these use tokenised card numbers, meaning your real card number is never shared with the merchant at all. If your phone supports it, this is the most private way to pay.

Automatic refunds

We believe you should only pay for a fax that actually gets delivered. That is why unofax has a simple refund policy:

  • Failed delivery = automatic refund: if your fax cannot be delivered after all retry attempts, your payment is refunded automatically. You do not need to request it.
  • No hidden fees: the price shown before you pay is the price you pay. There are no setup fees, monthly fees, or surcharges.
  • Refunds go back to your original payment method: whether you paid by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay, the refund is returned to the same method. Processing time depends on your bank, but most refunds appear within 5–10 business days.

No account, no stored data

unofax does not require you to create an account. There is no password to protect, no profile to manage, and no payment method saved for future use. Each transaction is independent. You upload a document, pay, and the fax is sent. Once delivery is confirmed, we retain only the minimum data needed for refund processing and legal compliance.

Your uploaded documents are automatically deleted from our servers after transmission. We do not read, analyse, or share the contents of your faxes.

Common questions

Quick answers about payment security:

  • Does unofax store my card number?: No. Your card details are entered directly into Square's secure payment form and never pass through our servers.
  • What payment methods are accepted?: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All transactions are processed in Australian dollars (AUD).
  • What if I see an unexpected charge?: Contact us at support@unofax.com with the approximate date and amount. We will investigate and resolve it promptly.
