Accepted Answer

Yes. unofax is an internet-based service, so you can send a fax to any supported country from anywhere in the world. No local phone line required.

Question 5

What paper size and format is used?

Accepted Answer

Documents are transmitted in A4 format, the standard used by fax machines in Japan, Germany, and most other countries. Your uploaded file is automatically scaled to fit.

Question 6

What file formats can I upload?

Accepted Answer

We accept PDF, Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx), plain text (.txt), and common image formats including PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, HEIC, and TIFF. Your file is automatically converted to fax format. For best results, convert Word documents to PDF before uploading. PDFs preserve formatting more reliably.

Question 7

Accepted Answer

Currently, each fax is sent to one recipient at a time. To send to multiple recipients, simply submit a separate fax for each number.

Question 8

How do I know my fax was delivered?

Accepted Answer

Once your fax is sent, you'll see an on-screen confirmation with the delivery status. Recent faxes and their status are also shown in the history section on the home page.

Question 9

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD). Your card issuer's exchange rate may apply.

Question 10

What is a fax cover sheet?

Accepted Answer

A cover sheet is the first page of a fax that identifies the sender, recipient, subject, and page count. Like the front of an envelope. It helps the recipient route your fax to the right person. Learn more about cover sheets.

Question 11

Does the cover sheet cost extra?

Accepted Answer

No. The cover sheet is always free of charge, regardless of destination. It is added as an extra page and does not count towards your per-page cost.

Question 12

Are all cover sheet fields required?

Accepted Answer

No. Every field is optional. Fill in as much or as little as you need. The date, recipient fax number, and page count are added automatically.

Question 13

Can I send a fax to a toll-free number?

Accepted Answer

Yes. unofax supports sending faxes to toll-free numbers (e.g. 1800, 0800, 0120) in all supported countries. Simply enter the toll-free number as you would any other fax number.

Question 14

How do refunds work?

Accepted Answer

If your fax fails to deliver, the charge is automatically refunded to your original payment method. Refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. No action is required on your part. Refunds are not available when: • The fax was delivered but you entered the wrong fax number • The fax was delivered but you sent the wrong document • You change your mind after successful delivery • The recipient’s fax machine received the fax but produced poor print quality due to their equipment Billing disputes must be raised within 30 days by contacting support@unofax.com.

Question 15

Can I receive faxes with unofax?

Accepted Answer

No. unofax is a send-only service designed to deliver your documents to any fax machine worldwide. We do not provide inbound fax numbers or fax-to-email functionality. If you need to receive faxes, you will need a dedicated fax reception service or a physical fax machine.

Question 16

Which countries do you support?

Accepted Answer

unofax supports fax delivery to over 45 countries, including Japan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and many more across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas. For the complete list of supported destinations, visit our supported countries page.

Question 17

Is there a file size or page limit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each file can be up to 100 MB, and you can send up to 10 files in one fax with a maximum of 300 pages in total. These limits cover the vast majority of business documents. If a single file is larger than 100 MB, split it into smaller files and upload them together as one fax. Documents longer than 300 pages need to be sent as separate faxes.

Question 18

Can I preview my fax before paying?

Accepted Answer

Yes. After you upload your document, unofax converts it to fax format and displays a full preview of every page, including the cover sheet, if you added one. You can review the exact output the recipient will receive before proceeding to payment. No charge is made until you confirm.

Question 19

What happens if the recipient’s fax machine is busy or turned off?

Accepted Answer

If the recipient’s line is busy or unavailable, our system automatically retries delivery up to 27 times over 24 hours. If the fax still cannot be delivered after all retry attempts have been exhausted, the transmission is marked as failed and your payment is automatically refunded in full.

Question 20

Can I send a fax from my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. unofax works in any modern mobile browser. No app installation required. Simply open unofax.com on your iPhone, Android, or tablet, upload a document from your device or cloud storage, and send your fax. The full experience, including document preview and cover sheet, is optimised for mobile screens.

Question 21

What fax quality does unofax use?

Accepted Answer

Fax machines support two resolution modes: Standard (204 × 98 DPI) and Fine (204 × 196 DPI). Fine mode produces sharper text and images with double the vertical resolution. unofax always sends in Fine mode to ensure the best possible print quality on the recipient's machine.

Question 22

Do I have to wait for the fax to finish sending after payment?

Accepted Answer

No. Once payment is confirmed, your fax is queued and sent automatically in the background. You can safely close the page. You'll receive a delivery status update by email when the fax is complete. You can also check the status anytime under Recent Faxes on the home page.

Question 23

How much does it cost to send a fax?

Accepted Answer

Sending a fax costs a flat rate of $0.27 per page, regardless of destination. The optional cover sheet is always free and does not count towards your page cost. Prices shown in your local currency are converted from $0.39 AUD; your card is billed in AUD and your bank's exchange rate applies at checkout. There are no hidden fees, subscriptions, or minimum charges.

Question 24

How do I enter an international fax number?

Accepted Answer

First, select the destination country. The country code is added automatically. Then enter the local number without the leading 0 used for domestic calls. For example, for a Tokyo number you would select Japan and enter 3 1234 5678. unofax validates the number before you proceed and will let you know if the format is incorrect.

Question 25

Are faxes sent in colour or black and white?

Accepted Answer

Fax technology transmits in black and white only. If you upload a colour document, it is automatically converted to greyscale during processing. For best results, ensure your text has good contrast against the background. You can check exactly how the recipient will see your fax in the preview before paying.

Question 26

Can I get a receipt or proof of delivery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. After your fax is sent, the delivery status is shown on screen and recorded in the Recent Faxes section on the home page. You will also receive an email confirmation with the delivery result. This email and on-screen status can serve as proof of transmission for your records.

Question 27

Can I schedule a fax to be sent later?

Accepted Answer

Yes, unlike most online fax services, unofax lets you schedule faxes for a specific date and time, up to 7 days in advance. Simply select "Schedule for later" when composing your fax. After payment, your fax is queued and sent automatically at the scheduled time. A delivery status update will be sent to your email and shown under Recent Faxes.

Question 28

Can I cancel a scheduled fax?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Email support@unofax.com with your file name and fax number. Cancellation is available on a best-efforts basis and depends on how close the request is to the scheduled send time. If we are able to cancel the fax before sending begins, a full refund will be issued automatically.

Question 29

Is my document secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your document is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and automatically deleted from our servers after sending. We do not store, share, or access your files beyond what is needed to deliver your fax. For more details, see our privacy policy.

Question 30

Why am I charged in Australian dollars?

Accepted Answer

unofax is an Australian company, so all prices are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD). If your card is in a different currency, your bank or card issuer will convert the amount automatically at their exchange rate. The converted amount typically appears on your statement within a few days.

Question 31

Do pages arrive in the correct order?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pages are transmitted sequentially and arrive in the exact order they appear in your uploaded document. If you upload several files, they are sent in the order you arrange them. The cover sheet, if added, is always sent as the first page.

Question 32

Can I send several files in one fax?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can upload up to 10 files, for example a signed form plus supporting documents, and send them as one fax. Use the arrows to put them in the order you want. You can mix formats (PDF, Word and photos), so there is no need to merge PDFs first. You pay for the total number of pages, up to 300 per fax, and the free cover sheet always goes first.
